Tabernaemontana divaricata 'Carnation of India'

Out of stock

Evergreen shrub to 5 ft. with elliptical pointed dark green glossy foliage. Bears white carnation-like double blooms, hence the name. More fragrant at night than during the day. Blooms throughout the warm season. Excellent plant for containers, in full to part sun and can be trimmed to maintain a compact plant. Well drained, fertile soil, regular moisture in summer, less in cooler months. Also known as Crepe Jasmine.

Light Requirements

Full Sun

the Carnation of India performs best with full sun exposure. It is best outdoors where it can receive sunlight all day unimpeded. It requires full intensity sunlight to avoid issues that keep it from reaching its full potential.

Symptoms of a lack of full sun include:

  • Pale colors
  • Spindly, leggy growth
  • Leaf drop
  • Failure to thrive

Indoors, the Carnation of India may not get enough light unless it is in a solarium, greenhouse or next to bay windows.
