Passiflora 'Incense'
Deciduous vine with five lobed palmate, green foliage. Grown for its impressive dark violet flowers, with lavender corona that is wavy at the ends, and white towards the center. Flowers of this hybrid are incensly scented, and prized by flower shops and growers. Flowers summer through fall, earlier if grown in a warm greenhouse.
It has proven hardy in Houston and possibly into Zone 8. It dies back in winter but returns with a vengeance in the spring.
Passiflora Incense is desirable in the butterfly garden where it hosts the Gulf Coast Fritterlary en masse.
