Eugenia longiflora is also known as Suriname cherry, Cayenne cherry, pitanga and Brazilian cherry. It is native to South America. Eugenia longiflora produces edible berries which taste best the darker the fruit becomes. Prior to fruiting, the plant bears dainty white flowers. In its native range, Suriname cherry, can be found growing from Argentina to Brazil to French Guiana.
