Citharexylum spinosum “Fiddlewood" is a small tree native to the Yucatan, West Indies, and South Florida. It's name derives from its use in making musical instruments. Fiddlewood is in the Verbenaceae family and has wonderfully fragrant clusters of small white flowers borne on racemes up to a foot in length. Flowers are attractive to wildlife. Birds relish its shiny black fruit. Fiddlewood is hardy in Zone-9, easy to grow and flowers most of the growing season especially in spring.
