Service Notice

Zone 9 Tropicals' web site is getting an upgrade. After 12 years we are retiring the technology behind our online store and upgrading to the latest most advanced open source ecommerce engine available.

The upgrade offers a more friendly, responsive and informative interface. It is light years ahead of what we now have and allows our customers a tighter more robust user experience.

The last piece before deployment is the migration of our user accounts to the new platform. Our commitment to user privacy and data security, however, means that this part may not be succesful. Our user passswords(we do not collect or store financial data in any way) are not visible to us and we will rely on programmatic solutions to get our old system in its ancient language to speak with our new system in the new language and hopefully transfer the accounts. The rub is that this may not work and we will have to launch our new presence without the old accounts. Unfortunatley, even if the migration is successful, user's order histories will not be available on the new web site. Although not having the accounts or histories on the new site will be dissapointing, I am sure we can agree that security and data integrity is more important than the small inconvenience of setting up a new account.

We will make every effort to make the old site available for those customers who have need of it, but the new technology will make the old site inopperable.

The launch will happen with the next two weeks. I will post a notice here with a target date once I've nailed it down.
